During the last decade we have had the pleasure of working with so many wonderful causes both locally and globally. The needs are great at every level, but we have focused on some of those causes that are dear to us. Chikumbuso, a grassroots project in Ng’ombe, Zambia, provides an alternative lifestyle to the most vulnerable women and children in the township. Chikumbuso provides free schooling for the children, as well as adult training and capacity building , income generation activities and community building programs. For the past five years, many North Stonington supporters have worked with JE to host a benefit concert featuring Ben Taylor. Each year JE donates half of the proceeds after expenses. More than $30,000.00 has been raised to date.
Lawrence + Memorial Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
Southeastern Connecticut is lucky to have such great medical care. Board-certified neonatologists are always ready at L+M to provide advanced or intensive medical care during those first critical days of life. In honor of Keelan Budds, and in conjunction with the Budds Family, JE has the pleasure of donating the proceeds from a special night of music, food and wine held each year at the winery. More than $10,000.00 has been raised to date.
Connecticut Farmland Trust, Farm Fresh Rhode Island and Chefs Collaborative
Our wonderful Culinary Showdown
event has the added benefit of being a fund raiser for some important causes. Supporting local organizations who are dedicated to the preservation of New England farming is a natural fit for us. More than $8,000.00 has been raised to date.
North Stonington Wheeler Library
The small town of North Stonington has a jewel of a public library. Like many public libraries, it has a dedicated staff of volunteers and a slim budget. Its stunning building is in need of repair. JE was proud to donate all of the wine for The Local Affair
fundraising dinner in 2012. So many farmers stepped forward to help that evening. We look forward to partnering with the Library to ensure that our unique resource in town remains vibrant.
